Access Issue: Climbing Regulations/Seasonal Raptor Closures Details

The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description

Oasis Rock

is the large formation directly behind Rat Rock and is host to a number of routes which seldom see much traffic despite the close proximity to the popular Barker Dam.

Highlights here include the nice dihedral of Winnin' Time (5.10a), the interesting face climbing on Oasis of Eden, Direct Start (5.10d) and the technical movement of Tora Bora (5.11c).

Getting There

Skirt around the left or right side of Rat Rock depending upon the route of choice, but regardless of which way you go some scrambling/boulder hopping will be necessary.
