Description Suggest change

These crags are mainly north-facing and sit on the edge of a peat moor (Kinder Scout) where it rains a lot (even by the standards of northern England). Good quality gritstone but sometimes a bit sandy and sometimes green. There are several buttresses scattered over a mile or two of the moorland escarpment. If there's been a sunny, dry spell and you don't mind a walk, it's well worth a visit to escape the crowds of Stanage, Froggatt, etc.

Getting There Suggest change

Park in bays off the A57 on the east side of the Snake Inn. Down to the river then follow paths up to Fairbrook Naze or along Ashop Clough. At least an hour's walk, with a stiff flog up steep grass at the end of it.
