Routes in The Hidden Boulder

Description

This is a nice granite block hidden out in the woods off one of the trails leading up to the stone tower. Not too many lines here, but the ones there are of high quality.

Getting There

From the main parking area, take the wide trail (Great Woods Road) for about 5 minutes until you get to the top of the first hill. When here take a smaller rocky trail off to your left and follow that until you get to the first intersection. At this point stay right and keep walking uphill. Follow this trail eventually passing the Queens Row Boulders, Slant Right Boulder, and the Pedestal Boulder which will all be on your right. When the trail bends right and uphill again keep going strait onto a new, feshly-cut single track trail. Follow this trail for a minute over some rocks and you will come to the Hidden Boulder.

Just when the trail turns right, head left into the woods for about 125 feet, keeping the ravine on your left and a short wall built into the hillside on your right. The original trail has probably grown in. Jun 25, 2016
Is anyone familiar with the small wall/cliff band just down the hill from this boulder? I found a few fun (though short) problems on it with some potential for more. There was enough choss that I got the impression it doesn't see much, if any, traffic. Still, the holds that stayed on were nice.

Also, if you're looking to get here: another way is to follow the directions for the Bob Johnson Boulders and cut through the woods just after you see the golf course. Heading up the Great Woods Road out of the main parking lot, walk for a few minutes, and turn left onto the Cornel Path (marked with a sign). Keep going along this path, passing the intersection with the path to the Stone Tower (and a few other spots i.e. Queen's Row, Slant Right, Pedestal). You'll pass by the golf course on your left, then soon afterwards there will be a low marshy area off to the right. Looking over the marsh up the hill, you can see the Hidden Boulder through the trees. A quick bushhwack/scramble will get you up. I'm guessing the marsh is wet during the spring/early summer, but as of now, it's easy to walk across. Nov 12, 2016

Peter,

Feel free to develop any of that rock and post it up as you see fit.
