Description
The entrance of the cave appears to be ominous. However, after squeezing through a few large limestone blocks the cave opens up into three large vaulted rooms. This is the perfect place to escape the elements because the mass of rock mediates temperatures and provides shelter. The vault of the cave also offers amazing overhanging bouldering with astounding potential. I wanted to add this to Mountain project to create awareness.
The outer section of the cave gets sunlight but Rooms 2 and 3 require a headlamp.
Getting There
Upon entering the park follow the stream bed to the east. This will take you away from the park. Follow the dry stream bed until you reach an old mining road on the left. Take this mining road for about half a mile. A cement block on the left will mark another small fork in the road. Follow this foot path roughly a mile up hill to the caves.
