Description
There are around 15 routes here ranging from III ~ VIII (5.4 ~ 5.11). Climbs are bolted with bolted anchors. There are several multi-pitch climbs here making it a nice place to train for alpine climbs. Some aid routes exist here too, making it another training ground gem. There is also a long traverse route in the center of the wall.
The stone is Porphyr (Greek for purple). Porphyry is a variety of igneous rock consisting of large-grained crystals, such as feldspar or quartz, dispersed in a fine-grained feldspathic matrix or groundmass. It is purple in tint and it is a rare treat to climb such a geological wonder. It was a quarry bought at a costly price in the 1980s by some dedicated climbers.
In addition to rope routes, there are several klettersteig (via ferrata) in the Weinheim area. Also there is a tall outdoor artificial climbing wall near the crag.
