Description
The Kingston cliff is at the far end of Kingston on the southern tip of Lake Wakitipu. It offers long pitches of good quality schist with several styles of climbing. Most the grades are moderate. The pub at the base serves excellent food, beer and coffee!
Getting There
Find Kingston. Drive past the pub to the pier and park at the Shirttail Bluff trail head. Walk up well maintained trail for about ten minutes until it first meets the creek at a switchback. Carefully cross the creek and find a marked climbers trail to base of cliff. It is also possible to access the cliff by rappelling from the summit lookout but watch the drag when pulling your rope.
