Description
This spire is the northern most of the 4 main noddle head spires. I think it has seen the least development, with only 1 route listed in Hubbel's guidebook.
It is sunny, and almost entirely south facing, except for the north huge roof.
This area is entirely in the Pikes Peak national forest in the Rampart Range.
Unlikely you will see anyone at this rock. Ever. I think these areas are mostly overlooked since the 70's and 80's.
The rock is extremely hard, somewhat knobby Pikes Peak Granite. Very hard. It is not exfoliating at all, and appears to be all in good shape.
Getting There
Several ways - one way is to take Trail #677 - Noddle, which puts you on the ridgeline south of the formations. There are a few other ways to get there from farther south off of 67 (Sugar Creek Road), which involve easy walking on old forest thinning roads, marked by forest service gates. Expect 45 minutes to 1 hour approach at a decent pace.
