Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures ***** RAIN AND WET ROCK ***** The sandstone in Zion is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN ZION during or after rain. A good rule of thumb is that if the ground near your climb is at all damp (and not powdery dry sand), then do not climb. There are many alternatives (limestone, granite, basalt, and plastic) nearby. Description

The base of the Great White Throne has some decent cragging in the main canyon, covering from Red Arch Mt, to Weeping Rock.

Getting There

Park at or get of the shuttle at the grotto and head up the trail towards Shunes Buttress follwing a faint creek..At the large water holding take turn left and go up the steep but short hill. Turn right toward the wall and follow carins and a trail to the base..

To ascess Grasshopper, Rookie Crack and the other climbs near weeping rock, walk down the road ~10 min until you see a faint trail leading up through the scrub oaks (oppisit a pullout on a sharp turn)
