DescriptionThis is a jutting, somewhat low-angled buttress with a vertical headwall above that's located just right of the Castle Rock - Southeast Face and literally around the corner from the Castle Rock - East Face.
Only one route climbs the lower portion of the buttress proper, but both Crossbow (5.8) and Black Tower Crack (5.7) ascend cracks that lead to the top of the buttress and the base of the headwall.
Three routes currently exist on the headwall with Headwall Center (5.10b) being the best. Descent is via rappel from the top of the formation.
Getting ThereEasily reached by walking around left from the east face or by heading right from the rest of the rock. See the main Castle Rock page for additional approach information.
