The climbing in the Charleston area consists of trad climbing and bouldering along the gneiss sea cliffs. You need to plan your approaches, since the tides may block your access to the base of the cliff. It is possible to TR a number of lines from the top down. This is an unique climbing area that is worth at least an afternoon, if you are passing through the area.

Charleston is located on the northern west coast of the south island. It is about a 3hr drive south from Nelson.
