Description
Climbing in Western KY is varied and spread out. Clifty Hollow hosts a lot of boulder problems and endless variations, and maybe the best problem in western Kentucky, Werewolf. Hunter Bluff has some classic routes and test-pieces with some exciting ownership changes happening soon. For those looking to get off the deck, check out the two-pitch Hawkwind at Dismal Rock, bolted in 2019. Climbing is allowed with the Pennyrile State Forest, but not in the State Park,.
There is a lot of unique climbing history to Western KY (John Gill visited the Pennyrile). Please make sure to verify land ownership and access to the more smaller areas!
There is a local climbing organization that is forming for WKY (West Kentucky Climbers Coalition), so please stay tuned in. Some great things are about to happen for WKY rock climbing.
