There are many seasonal raptor closures with varying dates and specific boundaries. These generally effect The Monument, Kiss of the Lepers, Picnic Lunch Wall and/or Smith Rock group, and possibly elsewhere. These usually run from February to the beginning of August, but each closure is usually shorter than this, and is dependent on the birds' behavior. Description

Located on the West side of the Smith Formation, Cod Rock is actually a free standing formation, a huge block of tuff. Flounder Rock is about 125' to the left, closer to Asterisk Pass.
There are a small handful of routes on the formation including some more recent additions. The most popular route remains Sunset Slab and can be found in the Watt's guide.

Getting There

You have two good options...
1. hike over asterisk pass then hike south
2. hike around the Southern Tip of the Smith formation and continue back North

Look for a climbers path leading uphill to the formation (see photo)
