Warning Access Issue: RAIN, WET ROCK and RAPTOR CLOSURES: The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Also please ask and be aware of Raptor Closures in areas such as CAT WALL and RESERVOIR WALL in Indian Creek DetailsDrop down

Description Suggest change

This is a wild hoodoo near the bigger Rhino Horn. From a distance it appears to be a rectangular block sitting on a narrow shaft, and does indeed look like a hammer. Two routes ascend the same crack system from opposite ends of the skinny spire. In places you can see through the crack you are jamming to the other side of the tower.

Getting There Suggest change

There are no trails here, so pick a wash and avoid trampling the crypto soil. I approached from the ridge uphill from the hammer, and dropped down to it with some third and fourth class scrambling.
