Climber following the FA of Peggy Sue's First Time...

Description

Pueblo Canyon is the main tuff canyon running through the center of Los Alamos, and has interesting climbing both within the main portion of Pueblo Canyon, as well as in the smaller tributary side canyons, such as Acid Canyon and School Canyon. The rock quality is highly variable from crumbly to pristine.

A lot of climbing has been done in this area, including fun streambed bouldering, seldom-visited cracks up to 120' tall, occasionally formed short but fun ice climbs, and a few recent mixed/dry-tooling climbs have been put up. Very little of the developed climbing so far has been documented (to date), but maybe MountainProject will emerge as a good resource for sharing this information. Much potential for future climbs remain.
Go explore- have fun!

Getting There

Check under the pages for the individual sections of Pueblo Canyon.
The approaches range from very short (North Rd areas, 1 minute) to fairly long... 30 minutes for the more remote areas near the high 'Bridges' area of Pueblo Canyon

Featured Route For Pueblo Canyon Areas
Anything that looks like a hold above the flat face is choss... makes for good mantle practice.

Rock Off V3  NM : Los Alamos & White Rock : ... : North Rd. West
Rock Off climbs the arete left of Rock On! and joins it for the mantle. Both the detached rock that serves as the start foot for Rock On! and the detached face left of the Rock Rock are off. Start on poor holds on the arete and make a balancy move the better features that are located above the top of the left face. From here, grab some small holds left of the arete and move up to join the Rock On! mantle. Starting on holds above the top of the left-hand face is probably V2-, but still fun. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in NM
