Access Issue: PRECIPITATION AND WET ROCK Details

The sandstone here is easily damaged when wet. Please allow at least 24-48 hours before climbing after any precipitation. If the ground is at all damp, please do not climb on any local sandstone. Consider nearby options on basalt, limestone, granite, or plastic instead.

Description

Part of Islands in the Sky the Dip Area is between the Doghouse and The War Zone - both south of Aftershock Wall.

Only a few worthy climbs exist here, all requiring gear. There are two well traveled 5.6's, including Under the Sleeping Giant and a good multi-pitch .10b called Famous Last Words. The rock quality is fair, but fragile in areas. Shady in the morning and sunny towards the afternoon.

Getting There

The best parking is just north of a major "dip" in the road, with a larger pullout to the west and a smaller one on the opposite side. Follow a distinct trail to the routes.
