Alpine Bouldering Club (A.B.C.)
May 20, 2023 · Third session over a couple years. Direct line didn’t use large jug pocket on the left or the sloper crack on the right. Stiff for the grade but the rock is not the best so I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s changed a bit. I think the actual start hand placement was not clear from the description. Looking at the fa pics, I think the natural start is even lower than depicted. I started sitting right hand on a slopey side pull and left hand out left on a better side pull not quite around the arete. First move a somewhat challenging (I’m 5’5”) throw to a right hand pinch/side pull, which I think is where the original ascentionist started. Through the middle section I bumped my left hand gaston to the good hold (should be obvious) which some people seemed to take with their right. A toe hook on the start hold provided enough tension to come in right. This may have been the hardest move for me. At that point I crossed into the pockets up high after placing a high right foot. I think this was the only way that was going to work for my height.
