Description
Generally good rock and 4 quick pitches at the mouth of the cirque make this a fun objective. We did this the day after hiking into the cirque and wanted to check out the descent off the back.
P1: Start on ramp to the left or in notch to the right and head for left sweeping crack. Undercling and mantle onto ramp. Belay here. (5.7)
P2: From belay, head into recess, establish under the roof and rock onto the slab. Head up slab towards dihedral where it is clean, pull an easy roof, then belay on ledges to the left. (5.8)
P3: Go straight up towards double fin laybacks, mantle onto ramp, follow mossy crack to offwidth directly above. Climb this and belay on nice ledge after pulling over. (5.8)
P4: From belay, step right to nice undulating hand-ish size crack. Follow this until it ends at a ledge. From the ledge, head straight up on the slab for a 30ft runout, aiming for a block with some cracks in it that you get bomber gear in (there is a small flake but its very hollow so I wouldn't put anything behind it). Step left from here to pull around some blocks, and then you are on low 5th class that leads to the false summit. (5.7 pg13)
