Description Suggest change

I cleaned Welcome to the Jungle (WTTJ) in the spring of 2024 and now,  for competent parties, it makes a fun sit start to Ruby's Ridge.  Those two routes have pretty good descriptions but I'll include a few notes for folks doing the linkup:

  • I suggest approaching WTTJ by hiking in from Off Ramp / Mirror Wall (ie the talus below headlight point).  It is way easier this way than going down and around Gun Show, plus you can leave water+snacks at headlight base for when you top out WTTJ. (see the topo pic I uploaded)
  • You can readily climb WTTJ in one long pitch by bypassing P1 in favor of the gulley out left which I cleaned a bit!  I also added an anchor just over the lip of P3 on WTTJ so no more wandering uphill for a bush to sling.
  • Kind of stating the obvious,, but you should just coil your rope and hike from the top of WTTJ to the base of Ruby's Ridge :)
  • Link pitches 1 and 2, then 3 and 4 on Ruby's Ridge.  Rope drag isn't bad as long as you skip the first few bolts on P4 but its a little heady.

Take the climbers access trail to the base of Headlight Point.  Hike down to Off Ramp / Mirror Wall then further downhill to the talus field.  Follow this to the base of Welcome to the Jungle. (see topo pic I uploaded)

Protection Suggest change

If linking and you like sewing, double rack .2 to 3 with a single 4 for WTTJ then a dozen or so draws plus a few slings for Ruby's Ridge.
