Description
First route encountered on the west face. Starts in alcove 30 feet right of other three west face routes. An obvious and beautiful-looking line.
Climbing reality, however, is different: this rib of rock is of consistently poor quality, making the tricky and somewhat awkward lieback moves in the upper crack a bit sketchy. Unfortunately, this type of granite probably will not clean up with use; it’s likely to continue to erode underfoot and hand. On the bright side there are a lot of bolts, making a slip of minor consequence and upping the bravery factor significantly. Try it.
Be aware that this line is somewhat over 35 m but lowering with a 70 m rope works with the stretch.
