Description Suggest change

The waterfall itself is a fantastic piece of ice tucked away in a tree filled gorge that doesn't get any sun.  There isn't really a super great spot to belay from as the base of the waterfall fills up with snow, some almost up to your shoulders.  But the climbing is superb.

Tree Tops goes pretty much directly up the centre of the waterfall the entire way.

The first pitch on "Tree Tops" has a few vertical spots leading to a great anchor/belay station at the right hand base of the second pitch.  Feel free to bring up all your friends to this station as there is a ton of room up there.

The second pitch isn't terribly long, but has some sustained vertical iced for the first 2/3rds.  It can be a bit thin in some spots, but the ice is good enough to put in some pro.

Location Suggest change

From where you parked your car at the end of the road, cross the bridge (on foot) and follow the wide trail through the trees.  At one location you'll see a turn off through the woods towards a yurt camp.  take this turn which will eventually pop you out into an open valley.  On the other side of the valley you should be able to see a trail that meanders its way up the hill.  Head for that and follow it all the way up till it takes you back into the trees.  The trail here starts to get a bit narrow at points, so if you rode a horse, be careful.  Eventually you'll get to a large tree with exposed roots fanning out all over the place.  Just above it is the trail down into the gorge.  There are actually hand rails and even some fencing along this narrow trail.  Follow it down and you'll come to the waterfall.

If you can't find the waterfall on your first try, you can always hire a local to guide you on a horse.  Be sure to give a bit of cash to your new friend for helping you out!

Protection Suggest change

Bring a full rack of screws and plenty of slings for anchors. The top of the first pitch has bomber ice to set a good anchor while the top of the second pitch has a tree to create a belay station at. If you have 60 meter double ropes, you can wrap this tree and just make it to the bottom of the waterfall on rappel.
