From the March 15, 1998 Climbing Magazine, "Studying the move three years ago, March pressed his fingers into a tiny crimp on a 45-degree granite overhang, and considered the enormous span to the next hold at the lip. The move appeared ludicrous, and when a companion told him, "It won't go this generation," March set his jaw in defiance and named the problem The Blank Generation, the title of a 1977 album by Richard Hell and the Voidoids," written by Wills Young.
