Description

Climb the first pitch of Armando's Stilletto (10D). Three-quarters the way up the second pitch of A.S. climb right to almost stand on an old tree stump. From the stump, climb right out a right facing corner/roof to the arete and around to a 2 bolt anchor (10c) . Look for small gear up and left (0 tcu) protecting the moves to and around arete. From anchor follow crack, stepping left to ramp and up and right. A small cam with a runner protects moves to down climb and go right to a wide layback crack. Layback this (4") to the steep hand's above. Avoid the wideness way right. Fire a bulge with a medley of hand and finger sized jams. Bust left when you can and finish up the splitter fingers to a 2 bolt anchor. A single 70m will get you down to the anchor of Friendly Faces.

Protection

Dbls from 00 to #2 camalot, 1x #3 camalot. Nuts. Runners

Thanks for the extension/ linkup pitch off of South Park anchor. The slab dyno move felt mid 5.10, with the stem corner feeling more 11c. All the moves were protected well and its a great addition that allows for linking either Armando's or Astrolamb. Thanks RF. Jul 24, 2015

This Spring I equipped and freed an old rivet ladder variation that starts off South Park and joins into Armandos p2. right before you exit into the Astro var. It can also be started by first climbing Lizard Lounge for a harder first pitch but skips the exciting dyno off from South Park which follows the bolt ladder, and was my original draw to the project.

The proposed new "Astro-Lamb" linkup -

P1. Climb South Park .11a- Great pitch

P2. From South park anchors reach out and clip a long sling on the first bolt of the bolt ladder, down climb a few moves and traverse left up onto a green slab and huck it for the arete! .10/.11 dyno? its not that hard once you find the spot to jump from...Now, step up and climb the arete past 2 more bolts ( another long sling on the 3rd is nice) and transition left into a desperate .11+ stem corner past two more bolts. Right before the bush make a big reach left and connect into the 2nd pitch of Armandos Stilleto. continue up A.S. for 15 feet or so and start into Trevors original AstroLamb finish.
-I added three bolts and erased 3 bolts from this bolt ladder presumably installed by Greg Barnes

P3. Climb the Astro lamb pitch described above.

Three pitches (.11a/.11d, 5.11+, and 5.11c) of excellent 5.11 climbing, and excellent position right front and center, now that sounds a little more Astro!
