Intro to Safe Harbor 101. Starts on broken rock, then moves up slabs broken by tiny ledges.

The route setter placed 4 bolts. It also takes some of the best trad protection at Safe Harbor.

Current conditions may vary - please check the comments for the latest on bolt conditions, etc.

This can be lead on gear and makes a good intro for those looking to transition from sport to trad. Dec 5, 2011

It's a great beginner route. I've taken several friends here to do their first sport lead, and i did my first trad lead here. it's probably one of the few climbs at SH that can be lead on just trad. Everything else is too slabby. Nov 9, 2013
As of January 2016, the third bolt has been replaced with a U-bolt/epoxy style.

I also concur about leading this short but fun climb. It can be done mixing bolts and gear then gear alone as well. its good practice for placing hexes down low, a few good nuts relatively low, and a few spots that take good gear next not-so-good gear placements making good decision-making practice too. I believe Ive gotten 10 pieces in when practicing placing gear. Apr 14, 2016

FYI Paper wasp nest in the hand crack left of the last bolt. Can manage the route at 5.7 edging further right. I left it be because why would I piss wasps off mid climb. I didn't harm them, they didn't harm me. I would rather not say anything, for better chance they get left alone but it seems like a popular beginner route for visitors; and I pray nobody gets stung and the wasps can live peacefully May 31, 2018

As of 10/21/2018 the screw on the last bolt is loose. Tried to hand tighten but the screw was spinning. Also set the speed record of 3:10, would be stoked if someone better than my gumby ass hit the sub 2 minute. Would make headlines for sure. Oct 21, 2018

Would be a Great Warm-Up/beginner climb. Went for the speed record but couldn't break the historical time set by Josh Rymer Oct 21, 2018

As of 26 Dec 2018: The last bolt is now loose to the point of being unsafe and someone has flagged it with yellow tape. If you are uncomfortable with a bit of runout on 5.4ish terrain, you might want to bring a small cam or two for the last 25 feet until the bolt is replaced. Dec 27, 2018 · Temporary Report
