Description

The route, appropriately enough, starts with a mantle (which can be harder than necessary if you miss the sequence). Higher, slabs and corners with the odd mantle thrown in gain another easier crux at the 6th bolt. The route finishes with a fun slab, passing an old, rusty bolt (7th) before reaching the anchors under a large roof.

The climbing is cerebral but also goes with a bit of thuggery in spots, which actually makes this several climbs in one.

Location

About 10' right of Marathon Man and just left of Mantlepiece.

Protection

8 bolts, ring anchors

2nd to last bolt was quite scary, because its a ledge its real hard to figure out whats up there when you make the move, and if you fall you are landing on another ledge. Last bolt was really old and rusty, did not inspire any confidence. Oct 31, 2016

Didn't love it, but as the only climb really of its grade in slab city it is not bad. Didnt flow very well IMO though. Jul 2, 2012

Top mantle before the slab was the hardest. I didn't know the sequence so I just heel hooked up it. Jun 21, 2011

Great fun, and a good warmup. My girlfriend at 5'0" only had trouble on the top mantle. Enjoy! Jun 29, 2009

If you do all the mantles on the route, the route can feel bitty and broken. If you try and reduce the mantles using layaways, and other holds the route is much better. Sep 29, 2007

Great climb for anyone who loves mantles! I thought this line was a lot of fun and it kept me guessing the whole time. The finishing slab is easy, but interesting... Aug 19, 2007
