Bouldery start to a good rest to an overhanging crimper topout.

In the middle of the crag, can be located by a huge undercling cobble below the 2nd bolt and a drilled pocket (at maple?) to the left of the 4rd bolt. Video beta can be found at:…

5 bolts to chains.

agree with misty no 13a probably 12d by just a notch or one hold. What would it be like if it was not drilled out? Sep 8, 2006

I agree with Mono on this.

In addition You could post a route with good and acurate info with out having done it, maybe if you have tried a route, also if you have experience at a grade you should have a pretty good idea of what it would be. Oct 13, 2008

I think you can suggest grades for routes if you are entering them in the database- you have to put something, right? But "you can't downgrade a route you've never tried! (You'd think this would be obvious...). " -Jordan DeLong Nov 25, 2008

12 move V6 to get established in the jugs, then 5.11 to the top. 12d. Aug 18, 2013
Awesome climb, but it felt more like 12B. Not trying to sandbag anything, the climb might have changed recently, as is the characteristic of maple. Aug 8, 2017

^ please describe the movement and key holds of the route you did that felt 12b. I am 100% sure it was not Predator. At 12c in the guides, Predator might be the only clearly sandbagged route at Maple. It is very solid 12c at any US sportcrag and 12d by Maple and most other crag standards. Did you do any of the other 12bs or 12cs at the Pipeline? I have done them all and this one is a letter grade harder for sure. I comment here because calling this 12b is a strong sandbag. This will never be someone's first 12c....much less 12b! This is 12d compared to ANY 12c in Maple. I think you did another route or you are intentionally sandbagging an already sandbagged 12c by calling it 12b. There is no way the crux of this route cleaned up to be easier as the crux is on drilled pockets. I would advise suitors of this route to ignore the above comment and refer to all other input on this route. least 12c! Aug 31, 2017

Don't sweat it...I think Merto could be clueless when it comes to the nuances of the 5.12 grade. He probably climbs 5.14 or at least double digit boulders- if so, not the person for judging 5.12. Aug 31, 2017
