Description

This route is actually a mile or two east of Monitor Rock on Black Slab. Approach as for Monitor Rock. 50 yards past the Parry Park Campground, turn right off CO 82 on a dirt road. After 100 yards, bear right at the fork, and park at the little camping area. Hike straight up the hill to Black Slab. The right route is 5.9+. The crux is just after the third bolt - a nice, blank slab.

Protection

4 ancient bolts.

First ascent M. Dudley and John Bowman, early '80s. The blank nature of the friction moves reminded us of climbing on Glacier Point Apron in Yosemite. Apr 23, 2017

The guide gives this route a 5.9. It's a good little one to hit on your way out of the canyon. Sep 1, 2008
