Description
This route is a small flow located about 100 meters up a small gully on U.S. 40 1/2 mile up from the first switchback turn (Big Bend Picnic area) going towards Berthoud Pass. I don't know if anyone has ever climbed it before (probably), but it is great for a quick fix for anyone living in Grand Co. and can't get down to Silverplume. The route is only about 15-20' high, but it is ice. Park in the small pull off area, watch out for traffic and snow plows. This is before the Stanley avalanche area, and if you pass the sign that says no parking next 3 miles, you've gone too far. There may be more vertical ice higher up the gully, I just haven't found it 'cause I didn't go more then 3/4 of a mile up.
