I looked on Black diamonds website and couldn't find any info but I remember reading that the ultralight camalots have a limited lifespan due to the spectra "cable" and that they need to be retired after 10 years. I bought 1 UL #3 and looked at the sling and it says 2016. Maybe one of the first years they were made? I should have realized I would climb past there retirement date. Hell I still have a # 1, 2, and 3 original single stem camalots from th 90's that work as well or better than some of the more modern versions that were made over seas. Are people planing on climbing on them past the 10 year mark? the lobes and everything are fine and it is stored in the dark of my basement when I'm not climbing. I guess I could call BD and ask.
as much as I might dislike the idea of AI, might be a great use of it if, every time someone asks about UL C4s, an AI prompt pops up and asks "would you like to watch the HowNot2 video about UL C4s?"
OP, TL, DR: I'm 99.9% certain you cannot physically create the forces necessary to break a UL C4, no matter how hard you fall. I just scored a 2016 off ebay for $50 and immediately started using it, and will continue to do so for at least another 5-6 years without any hesitation. You'll be just fine.
