Asgard - training

Hi there.  I've set myself the objective of climbing Mount Asgard on Baffin Island.  How would I best train for this objective?  I currently climb 5a/5.9/V2 so I know I have a lot of work to do.  Has anyone here climbed Asgard?

Thanks in advance ☺️

I am suspicious that this post is a bot account (recent account; only post), but whatever, I'll reply anyway since I have some time to kill. Maybe someone will find this useful.

The advice here is the same as any time an inexperienced climber posts about an ambitious multi pitch trad / big wall goal (see also numerous threads about Freerider). Aim to spend the next 3 to 15 years (progression rates vary) building a wide base of trad and multi pitch experience, and raising your overall climbing level. Do some trips to Yosemite. Climb the classic free routes. Climb the intro aid walls. Go climb The Nose. Climb some harder El Cap aid routes. Do some trips to other classic areas. Get some experience with alpine rock environments in the Bugaboos, or the Winds, or Chamonix, etc. Do a first big expedition to somewhere a bit mellower than Baffin, such as Lotus Flower Tower. Meet and climb with a bunch of experienced partners along the way.

Congrats, now you've already achieved more in your climbing career than the vast majority of climbers. Still psyched on Asgard? That would be the time to then zoom in on the specifics of what else know need to know for that objective.

In short, don't over-focus on the big objective. Build a general base by pursuing a series of nearer-term objectives. It is ok to have a "north star" objective in the far-distance that guides your general direction, but most of your attention should be on the next 3 steps in front of you.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
