Remember that Climbing Analytics Prototype? It's Now SendSage & Ready to Go!
|
Hey everyone, Isaac here, A while back, I shared a prototype for a climbing analytics tool, and the response from the Mountain Project community was amazing – over 500 of you tried it out and gave some incredible feedback! It was fantastic to see so many climbers find it interesting and useful. Your input, bug reports, and enthusiasm were massively motivating. Well, I've been hard at work ever since, and I’m super stoked to share that the project has evolved into SendSage! It's now live at send-sage.com, and it's not just a prototype anymore. SendSage is a fully functional platform and a massive improvement on what you saw before, designed to give you even deeper insights into your climbing. I’ve focused on delivering powerful, intuitive analytics, and because I'm developing SendSage full-time, new features and improvements are flowing out quickly! Here’s a look at what SendSage offers right now:
Help Keep the Features Flowing! To continue developing SendSage full-time, roll out exciting new features rapidly (more AI insights, new chart types, and community-requested tools are all on the roadmap!), and cover the necessary operational costs, SendSage is available through a small subscription – about the price of a coffee each month. This support allows me, as a solo developer, to dedicate myself to building the best climbing analytics tool possible and keep those updates and new features coming your way. Your Insights Still Drive Development! My goal is to provide a truly valuable resource for our community, and it's your early enthusiasm and ongoing support that make this possible. Thanks for being an awesome community to build for! Cheers, Isaac Developer of SendSage |

With all the respect it deserves, I cannot think about anything I would care less about than an AIs opinion, especially one that hasn’t seen me climb and doesn’t have an ample data pool to pull from, of my climbing performance. Beyond that, this tool mostly offers things I can recreate the findings of with a few minutes of pandas and sns work if I’m feeling productive, or with a few additional minutes of excel work if I’m not. If you want to use AI to genuinely set this tool apart and **potentially** bring about some value (still not even remotely comparable to getting a real coach to put eyes on your actual climbing instead of your fluffed up tick list), use it to categorize climbs by styles and point out stylistic weaknesses and tie that in to progressive trainings for that. “I see you’re dogshit at slab climbs. Here’s a progression you could try based on local areas you climb in”. “I see here you have no power and are featherbagging everything that requires it. The gym near you has a 2016 moonboard, go try these problems and recalibrate accordingly.” Granted, all of this could also be achieved by a single session with a locally-familiar coach or just a climbing partner who you can get to be honest with you. |
