What's been your best rope?

Hi,  I'm looking to replace my sons Petzl rope since it has become like over-cooked pasta.  Any recommendations?  I know he doesn't want the TC rope but open to others.  He's primarily a sport climber taking whips at 155lbs frequently.  TIA!

I use the mammut alpine dry 9.5 and it’s a work horse. Nothing it can’t do.

Mammut crag classic - durable, cheap ish.

Beal joker - handles well, amazing skinny line.

Sterling xeros- handles well, feeds great, durable thus far.

Everything I've ever had from Mammut

Mammut 9.5mm dry treated for a workhorse rope

Edelrid Canary 8.6mm has been the best rope I’ve used for alpine climbing, trad, mountaineering etc over the years. Perfect balance of durability and handling

The Beal Tiger lasted us a couple thousand pitches I think. Sure, it's a big thick - but that thing is a workhorse and it's only an extra pound, if that, in weight. Unless he's projecting at the highest level, it's plenty light enough.

I've been very impressed with all my edelrid ropes, mammut seamed to fuzz up quick in my experience. Beal ropes for me have been both incredibly durable but difficult to handle or, very fragile (Beal joker).

beal Opera and Edelrid Canary are both five star skinny ropes. surprisingly durable, great handling, no notes.

I like that the opera has unicore, and that the canary has a high sheath percentage. both give me the warm fuzzies I need to counter such a small diameter.

I have gotten so used to using those that I don't like "normal" thickness ropes anymore. I do have other ropes I use for cragging etc though

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
