I was climbing with a friend on Saturday and witnessed a pretty bad heli rescue at about 11am, a guy flipped over and hit his head pretty bad on Galwas crack -

Really tragic, a good reminder to climb with humility and prioritize safety. Last I heard the first climber was alive but in serious condition. For the second, did she fall all the way from the belay ledge to the ground? If so, her and her belayer are lucky to be alive. I place an extra piece at the belay ledge and clove hitch my belayer to it, as I feel blowing those first 4th class moves would likely result in serious injury or death for both me and my belayer. Seems like we've been having a lot of injuries on otherwise safe routes in the last two years, both at the gorge and ECM. Stay safe out there. |

I wish the best of luck to the injured climbers. |

grug gwrote: It helps to use these terms especially when communicating with emergency services thank you for editing your post. MP is not emergency services but I am happy to educate people like yourself so that you can use them in the future when speaking to not just ES but other climbers in discussing events with accuracy and correct terminology. |

grug gwrote: Because many of us have done the responsible thing and taken a basic wilderness first aid course. TBI: Traumatic Brain Injury. Even if you're a meat head you should know that one from sportsball contexts. ICP: |

Should the photo of the rescue and blood be removed from the route page? Feels a bit tasteless to me but maybe I’m the only one. |
