I was climbing with a friend on Saturday and witnessed a pretty bad heli rescue at about 11am, a guy flipped over and hit his head pretty bad on Galwas crack -

Yesterday my friend Martin was walking out at 3pm and witnessed another fall on the same route, a woman was leading and fell and 3 pieces pulled, she slid off the ledge and pulled her partner down with her. Another heli. Stay safe out there.

Really tragic, a good reminder to climb with humility and prioritize safety. Last I heard the first climber was alive but in serious condition.

For the second, did she fall all the way from the belay ledge to the ground? If so, her and her belayer are lucky to be alive. I place an extra piece at the belay ledge and clove hitch my belayer to it, as I feel blowing those first 4th class moves would likely result in serious injury or death for both me and my belayer.

Seems like we've been having a lot of injuries on otherwise safe routes in the last two years, both at the gorge and ECM. Stay safe out there.

I wish the best of luck to the injured climbers.

Why would anyone know what this means?

Why would anyone know what this means? Are you showing off your WFR skills or something?

It helps to use these terms especially when communicating with emergency services thank you for editing your post. MP is not emergency services but I am happy to educate people like yourself so that you can use them in the future when speaking to not just ES but other climbers in discussing events with accuracy and correct terminology.

Because many of us have done the responsible thing and taken a basic wilderness first aid course.

TBI: Traumatic Brain Injury.  Even if you're a meat head you should know that one from sportsball contexts.

ICP: insane clown posse Inter Cranial Pressure. If this is increasing, it means that the TBI is getting worse (brain swelling), and it's an indicator that you need immediate medical attention (as opposed to self-extracting and making it to an urgent care in your own time.) Symptoms include worsening mental state and vomiting.

Should the photo of the rescue and blood be removed from the route page? Feels a bit tasteless to me but maybe I’m the only one.
