As a male feminist I will be wearing a sports bra to climb at the gym in solidarity |

Ok I know it’s page 10 and no one is taking things seriously anymore but have we even gotten a good answer as to why men aren’t allowed to climb shirtless in some climbing gyms? I understand if it’s a conservative area but bearing that, I don’t understand the reason. I’ve never really heard of women complaining about guys being shirtless in the gym myself. The only time I’ve heard it mentioned from women is if the topless bro is also being loud and obnoxious. Barring that, I’ve only heard the complaint of topless guys from other guys. Why is this? I went to Quora with the question “Why do guys feel uncomfortable seeing other guys shirtless?” for a scientific evidence-based answer. Here is the result:

I think this debate signals that there’s a business opportunity for a chain of topless gender neutral climbing gyms. Adults only. |

I’d appreciate a gym that responds to Iran’s limits on women by making men climb in burkas and women climb nude. |

But, hey, you do you! I'll belay anything willing to rope the rope up for me, no matter what he/she/it/other's scenic value may or may not be!

I can't even imagine, but those ladies must've been fully proofed against drowning, if they managed to swim like that. Don't remember just which hard core fundamentalist state it was, but not Iraq, Iran, or Afghanistan. Pretty sure it was one of the oil rich ones. Best, Helen |

I think gyms that let men and trans men go shirtless should be forced to add a R rating to their logo. Route names referring to shirtless men should be redacted immediately. |
