DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO BUILD THIS?!
|

Hi Everyone,
I am currently living far away from all my favorite cracks in CO/UT. I still want to train my jams but can’t build a full sized crack machine (tiny apartment). So does anyone know how to build the Wide Boyz adjustable, portable crack box? |

What hand & power tools do you have? It's not that complicated but you'll need a drill press, drills, jigsaw and chisles. There is an easier way to build it. Get two boards, drill 4 holes, one at each corner. Put some all thread rod with nuts into the holes. Make a bunch of spacers to put between the boards. |

Looks like 3 layers of 1/4" or 5/16" plywood stacked up with voids in the middle layer for the cross bolts to go through Aluminum flat stock and a drill + dremel for the side bars Probably a six pack job |

No hand jammies for the kwisatz haderach. |

Any tips for dealing with Gom Jabbar pain when jamming? I've been trying the Litany Against Punting but looking for other tactics. |

Agree with rocknice, less complicated with threaded rods and spacers if you have limited tools, maybe a couple hours to build that way mostly just figuring out the sizes you want everything. If you did a double nut system on the inside, you wouldn't even need the spacers. Otherwise, I would imagine it's a laminate glue up. Hard part would be drilling through that spot for the fixed rod on something that deep without a drill press. Seems like those aluminum cross bars would want to flex/slip under a lot of pressure unless you're really cranking that nut down. Similar to rocknice's method, I used to use to solid concrete blocks with wood spacers and some clamps. Slightly awkward but takes literally no tools or knowledge to "build" and worked pretty well with very quick size changes. |

Forgot about this thread, did you build something? Let us see it and how you like it so far |

the other thing that might be easy is they make wooden clamps that could be pretty easily adjustable if you retrofit some wood to the inside. hope that helps! https://www.rockler.com/wooden-handscrew-clamps-clamps?country=US&sid=V91040&promo=shopping&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=&utm_content=pla&utm_campaign=PL&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiZqhBhCJARIsACHHEH_utrY2j7pWlKk1pdhVN76NeUeiUR9HT3DankF4D63h3h2vuLmfWHoaAh3AEALw_wcB |
