Anyone here do any rope access work? I don’t come from any relatable background, but considering the general field.

If so, what relatable job are you currently working? How do you like it? How’s the work/life balance? How’s the pay? How did you get into it/how would you recommend someone get into it? Any qualifications would you recommend getting beforehand? Any applicable information would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I did tree work for a while, technically rope access, way more dope than the tower and windmill stuff.  Hard manual labor, work life balance depends on the company you work for.  Pay is usually better than average labor.  You start on the ground dragging brush and feeding the chipper until you pick up climbing.  It's all about how fast you can get the job done, which sometimes makes you work your ass off.  You will be put in situations where your safety could be in jeapordy from others.

The best part is that tree crews are constantly looking for labor because many people come in, get their cash for a fix, then are never seen again.

Certified Rope Access work  (IRATA and SPRAT) is not the same as Arborist work, OSHA work at height,  or most Tower-climber work (some tower jobs do use RA Techs). DM sent, happy to talk with you about the trade.

Thank you both; Aaron, hit you up!
