Adding individual route vs. sub-area

Does anyone know if it's possible to add an individual route to an area that already contains sub-areas or will I have to create a sub-area for it as well? Can explain further but essentially I'm trying to add a lone boulder problem to an area which already has boulders separated into sub-areas.

Is it in the parking lot? Just add a sub area and make it descriptive.

It's part of a short cliffline as opposed to being a standalone boulder like the rest. There are other lone boulders along the cliffline so I'll probably just make a sub-area for all of them and just be very descriptive.

If none of the boulders/problems have been established, you get to name the area!

You can either have all routes or all sub-areas.  You cannot have a mix of routes and sub-areas on a page.

Thanks Bruce I just saw that it clearly states that when you add an area...oops

So how would you fix it when the area was added with routes and now you realized that you should've added sub areas first so the routes could be organized?

You have to ask an admin to help you reorganize - look for the admins that work on that specific area.  New sub-areas will have to be created and the existing routes moved to them as appropriate.  Admins have special tools to do exactly this; it's easier than it sounds.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
