I am sure if your a human who climbs often in trout you are sick of the question I am about to ask. The project and the BLM page says that it is closed from Jan 15- Aug 31st. So I am just hoping someone who spends time here can confirm that I can't climb in here at all during the month of march. It just crazy to me that a crag could be closed 7 months out of the year.

Definitely not during the month of March. However, they do open part of the wall sometimes around May 15th once the eagles have chosen a place to nest. It's kind of a bummer but golden eagles choosing a place to raise their young sounds like a more important priority than climbing a splitter. November to January is fine if you bring a puffy and it's sunny.

The last 4-5 years has been consistently Jan 15- May 15 for the Trout Main wall and Northern Side, which is maybe 98% of what people climb. The Eagles have nested at the Cool Wall on every closure, but there is always a chance they could switch to the Main Wall nest which would bottle thing s up till August.

Last year was the first time they were a successful nesting pair since the closure

The first year of the closure they nested at the Main Wall.

Oh, and Bend sucks.  No one should move there.

Nice but whereas my GF is still learning how to lead trad comfortably, 5.10 and up routes aren't gonna be very confidence inspiring for her. Maybe trout creek wouldn't either. Hmm guess I got some thinking to do. I'm moving this year for sure and want a good place to base out of. If I move back to bham I'm pretty limited to alpine or a drive to index or squamish. I currently live within 35 minutes of 6 different crags(best local crag is 8 minutes down the road) all with completely different rock so that's gonna be hard to deal with. We even have a 50' ice flow that is in good right now just 10 minutes away. I need a place that has lots of climbing nearby with 0 waiting lines. Do I already live the apex of climbing areas? I sure hope not

You will find plenty of lines here in central Oregon.  Dont move here,  it sucks.

There are a lot more splitter crack climbing in North central Oregon, Bills column, by Warm Srings, west willow creek.

Trout is stout, if you don't want 5.10 and up you won't have fun there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
