Why isn't there a paddle project?

We've toyed with it (I used to be a kayaker and own paddleproject.com among other similar domains), but in the end it always comes back to a small number of users, a small dataset, and a short period of the year. Most importantly, we're up to our ears in cool ideas that we want to implement on MP and our other sites.

But... it could happen in a couple years if nobody else has done it by then.

americanwhitewater.org is the best there is, nationally, that I know of. It's ok, but not great and suffers from the issues Nick mentioned.

You would probably do better with it as an S&M site. You might catch more crossover from here too.

because that would be lame

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
