Self Equalizing knot

Sittin' outside messing with with some cord: started out as a standard slip knot, stuck another bight through the hole and ran the top and out thought the outside bight, finished with a fishermans knot. It slides and self equalizes... does it have a name to anyone's knowledge?

There are at least 2 major pinch points that mean I wouldn't want to use for anything that could be shock loaded.

Be nice... or I'll post more. =]

How do multiple "pinch points" allow for self equalization?

And if you're not wanting a possibility of shock loading, what's the intended application? rappelling?

Self Equalizing. Not.

Fixed your title. SE doesn't exist. Don't let that stop you from posting more nots, though.

try to wrap your mind around a triple fig-8... Similar to what you've got here, is this redundant? it doesn't look like it. i dunno.

If your interested in self equalizing knots look at bunny ear knots like the super eight or an bowline on a bite where one loop is bigger than the other and you place a carabiner as a way to improvise a pulley assisted equalizing anchor that arborist a sometimes use. It works really well for a fixed line rappel or possibly if your building nchors out of rope and switching leads. But don't use a knot that the cord runs over itself and creates harmful friction

Agreed, silly now that I read it again. Though the knot itself before it's cinched down slides freely, allowing the bights to change size. Maybe rappelling in an emergency IF I had two hands and gear. Possibly fridge rappelling? Towing two cars? Walking the kids... I mean, wait, no... sigh.

Triple bowline, check. triple fig-8, check. No doubt much better, well established knots.

Look up the Portugese Bowline. It is a version of the Spanish Bowline but the loops are adjustable. Much more refined than this contraption^^. I have seen it used for fixing a jugging line to equalize two bolts as best as can be done.
