What is the best guide book for Little Cottonwood Canyon out theree right now?

Theres been quite a bit of development since that guide was published, though theres enough in there to keep you busy for years...check out IME off of 3300 south, they have topos of the newer areas. They should have the guidebook there too.

The new granite guidebook is due anytime soon... which means it might still be a while but it will be worth it.

I compare all guidebooks to Ruckman's , not once in 15 years did I ever curse the guidebook authors descriptions or ratings. and the book(s) can take a beating too.
