Does mountain project have a google earth link? I hope to find and establish routes in Indonesia and post the locations on google earth. I noticed that there are several organizations (eg. WWF, some divers's org, etc) have links on it. I think it would awesome to put climbing locations up there.
Cheers,
Koko

I don't think there is a direct way to download locations in google earth but there are a few hacks you can use.

You can always just go to a specific location and if it has a lat/lon added it will have a line in the description like this: Latitude: 38.6651 Longitude: -109.405
All you have to do is copy it and paste it into the google earth search box and then delete the words Latitude and Longitude and add a comma so it looks like this:
38.6651, -109.405

Another thing you can do is click on the "Aerial photo/map" link on a location's description which takes you to a google map page of the location. Then append &output=kml to the url and reload the page. This will request the data from google as a kml file which is the native google earth data format. You can then download this file and open it right up it google earth. I don't know if this method is any faster than the first...probably slower.

Both of these methods only work with single locations though so they are no help when you want to look at a bunch of areas within a given region. The problem is that the only way mp provides a list of locations is on its own map page where they can't be used anywhere else. It would make my day if mp started spitting out a GeoRSS feed of all their locations. Oh...and I think you should be able to add a lat/lon to specific routes but I have mentioned this a few times already.

Thank you very much for the responses!
Ihis is what I'm dreaming of (one of the examples on google earth) wannadive.net/spot/Asia/Ind…
Unfortunately, I'm cyberspace-challenged. I can surf on it, but don't know how to dive in ... :) Wouldn't it be awesome if mountain project were directly linked to google earth? People can go from either site to check out the climbs, locations, betas (not only on the climbs but on the physical and social environs) etc. I know there are many climbers who are not only interested in the wall adventure, but also appreciate the anthropological experiences.
This may be asking too much. But I thought I would throw it out there for .... Well, perhaps MP is willing to evolve to become a a friendlier social network for climbers, in case it has not already. Just perhaps! (Disclaimer: I'm a Facebook junkie. So my view of "a friendly social network" is so skewed towards that platform. My apologies!)
Thanks again for the betas.
