G7 Haul Pack

Can anyone who speaks marketing tell me what an ‘oversized interior’ means?

it's hard to describe, but it is basically the opposite of an undersized exterior. you will know it when you see it.

As a (former) medical professional and native californio, this is correct. 

Mikey knows who butters his bread and not sure why Kevin’s so invested in this but the hill I die on is that packs niche is a cohort of modern day tech/gym-bro nerds who like a certain aesthetic.  That backpanel would get shredded in a single bad haul.

If you have to ask, you probably don’t need to worry about owning one. If your backpack system works for you, no reason to change it

Actually I'm the only one who butters my bread these days.  I'm totally free to critique Patagonia at will (and would be happy to talk trash about some of their products).  That being said I was around some of the discussions (just to film and not as a climber) on the prototyping of the pack and I'll say it again, the pack concept and design was by people with an absolute mountain of experience (and as far from tech bro as humanly possible).  This is pretty darn close to the pack those people wanted.  Will it stand up to every hauling situation, probably not, but the trade off of comfort and ease of use might make it a better offering than what is currently on the market.  

I originally ordered a Haul Pack on Sept 13, 2023. This wasn't a Kickstarter or anything, it was a normal order on the G7 website which stated that the pack would ship in a month or so. I waited a little over 2 years but needed to put the money toward something else and sent in a request for a refund on Dec 3, 2025. I initially got a response about a week later that said they would make the refund happen but I never got a refund and when I email now they just don't reply. Seems like that money is just gone...

I really wonder if any of the "alternatives" are any good. The Blue Ice Alpine Hauler is a good pack if you want to haul it occasionally, but it is destroyed before you know it if you haul it on textured rock (it had several holes after hauling it up p1 of father time). It'd be very interesting to know how the g7 fares in that regard.

Does anyone have any updates? I emailed them back in February but haven’t received a response.  

Still nothing. They’ve gone completely silent now. Bummer.

Someone needs to tell them it doesn't count if they don't declare it out loud.

I recently asked about getting a refund for the pack I ordered in 2023 and got this reply:

“Factory is back open and I am here now putting things back online. We will know the ship date in a few weeks. Our aim is July.  I will be here the next 8 weeks working with them to cross the line. Cheers 

When I asked for a refund again, I received no reply. At this point, it’s looking very unlikely that I’ll receive either a pack or a refund. It seems like the stuff of lawsuits, but I doubt it’s worth it. What a shame. Seemed like a great idea.

Would anyone like to buy 10% of my pack?

I was told they're "not currently accepting cancellations on pre-orders" and my "Haul Pack will ship once passed QC." I'll believe it when I see it. Never buy anything from these people.

Anyone have a 22L pack they would want to sell to me and try and recoup some money? DM me, I'm still convinced they are gonna show up. Maybe I'm dumb or just optimistic but would love to get a 22L its the only size I didn't order and its becoming more and more the pack I want. 

I went on the G7 website to look at the manual on a pod. I found it hilarious that the banner on the front page included a pre-order button for the packs. 

Is a charge back not possible because it was a Kickstarter? Like since they can still provide the product eventually they haven't technically broken their promise?

Thanks for following up, and I apologize for the long delay in responding. Tempei is no longer handling CS and it’s just me for now, but I am also on the production line most of the time.

We do not yet have completed Haul Packs in hand.

I returned to the factory in January to support production directly on-site. Since then, there have been several unexpected factory shutdowns related to large-scale maintenance and renovations, often with little or no advance notice. These interruptions have unfortunately caused further delays to the project timeline.

I returned again three weeks ago and remain here now. Aside from one week in late June when I will be in Squamish, I’ll continue staying on-site until the packs pass QC and are ready to ship.

Our current target is to begin shipping in July. Given how many times timelines have shifted throughout this process, I want to be careful not to overstate certainty. The July target depends on there being no additional unforeseen shutdowns or technical disruptions.

I do understand your frustration and the reasons behind your request. However, as with Indiegogo crowdfunding campaigns generally, contributions are not refundable once funds have been committed to project development and production.

Who knows, but I’m sure it’s a huge hole. Gotta be way more than the initial indiegogo fundraise which is why I’m just impressed he’s still working on in it.
