I've found a way to multitask when it comes to the "maintain momentum" goal.

Vacuuming. Works legs, torso, and arms through a broad range of motion.

I start each day with a quick bit of vacuuming of a room or two. On workout days when I'm not climbing, I'll vacuum the whole house, carpet, floors, walls, ceiling. If I'm training overall fitness, after the house, I'll vacuum the driveway and sidewalks, sometimes the neighbor's sidewalks. When I go big, I vacuum the street too.

So Jay if you had to use just three words to inspire a younger person it would be..

“Don’t stop vacuuming “ ??

Yikes. Snowing here now and temps dropping rapidly from the low teens to however low it wants to go.   I have about a 3 ft snowpack in my yard.   The low snow year will probably mean  nasty drought and fire season out west...  the winter I spent in Jackson it was -40 and -50f regularly and loads of snow...  in other news how many folks with real jobs would still have their job today after posting monkey pictures of prominent black people...

The racism on the right is fully in the open for everyone to see now and I still haven't seen any explanations from the cult yet on how it wasn't 100% racist.

When the Epstein stuff gets too much attention, he blows the dog whistle.

Kneehab, I like that. I am going through a bit of that myself. Two more weeks of no weight bearing then rigorous PT. The only forward momentum for me at the moment is keeping my attitude positive.

After I get my PT behind me I’m hoping to climb here again this spring. Seems the perfect venue for a recovering crippled up old climber.

Wow, perfect venue also for my plein air painters group! That begs both climbing....and artwork. And, I'd suspect there's some damn birds to watch, and critters to ogle, and and .....

Just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. The backlash was there pretty quickly. Just google a teensy wee bit, and the news stories from 20ish or more hours pop up. Including the really clunky, shambling, "election fraud", disavowal by Trump, with zero apology. Yet again ("who, me???"). Pretty sad to watch.

No stone throwing at you, personally, here. But, FINALLY, yes, he went too far.

Undoubtedly, but geez, your pics could sell cheese to the Martians, eh? Wallace and Grommit reference (cross-pollinated with Bugs bunny). IYKYK

Instead of your wife cleaning, you should just send Jay up. And please post the vacuum cleaner in action.

Don't know if this vid has been dropped here before, but it belongs in this thread.

 Enjoy!

Mr. Gill, Did you ever climb with or meet John "The Verm" Sherman?

Hate to say it, but that workout really sucks.

I would rather scrub toilets than vacuum.  Hurt my back twice doing it.

Beautiful day for a gravel ride from the ocean to the mountains (foothills actually).

Headed out to go back country skiing by myself today. it was 0F and windy at the house. I got about 4 miles down the road and realized I did not have my phone with me.  In these temps it would not take long for things to go really south if anything went wrong. I turned around and went back for the phone. There was a bit of internal dialogue along the lines of can't afford to get hurt anyways so don't need the phone but in the end I did the right thing.  -7f at the trailhead. I had to break in the skin track again.

only took two runs. Had two semi close calls with trees...  they come up quick in weird layery snow.  I tried to talk my 78yr old ski buddy into going but he said it was too cold. Isa is off to Mexico with her daughter playing grandma so no one  really knows or cares what I am up to...

A great day for a favorite loop. The towers of the Wheeler Ridge have provided many days of adventurous climbing over the years. The speed of the descent keeps me from drifting away to memories of being up there.

I've known John for years. He is a pioneer of the modern version of bouldering and wrote the book Stone Crusade: A Historical Guide to Bouldering in America. He began climbing at age 15 about the time I was drifting away from serious bouldering, but years later we met in the secluded Granite Mountains of Wyoming to free solo on Lankins Dome. John repeated my Thimble climb in the 1990s and did much harder bouldering for quite a while. I had suggested the B-system of grading when there were very few serious boulderers and sport climbing did not exist in America. Verm updated the system with his V-scale, which was necessary because of the way rock climbing was changing.

I am very fond of "Old Man Lightening", and try to keep in touch. He currently lives in KY and may be getting married. He promises to return to the rock when he is capable, but not Midnight Lightening.

Looks like the Gorge road.
