Busted. Between mountain project and pornhub who has time to climb?

I do and I broke my femur in three places just four months ago.

Your excuses are weak brah.

What a great thread.  Before it gets locked who here has actually seen a stashed pad with 30 dead mice around it from foam poisoning.  Then proceeded to have their entire life ruined because of seeing such grotesque atrocities.

There has never been a hurricane named Chuck Chad because it would have destroyed everything.

Is Chad Miller?

OP here,

While I've never seen the resulting dead rodents, I have come across an abandoned pad. The straps were all but chewed off and bits of foam were littering the pit in the talus that it occupied. It was a bummer.

The stasher made no effort to conceal or protect the pad and obviously had no intention to come back for it.

I understand that the #1 rule of pad stashing is: hike out the pad when your done in the area

This should apply to fixed roped, hardware, or any other climbing paraphernalia that a climber leaves at a crag for whatever reason.

Isn’t rule number 1 of any practice “Don’t get caught”?

“Yard stash” 5 bike vinyl tent. Roomy and fairly durable, holds the pads well for my home wall and would pack out nicely to a remote location. Keep it out of the sun for extended life.

Didn't read everyone's response but I'm gonna guess the ones blanket stamenting that you should not stash pads or gear in general are not developing any boulders/areas that are bit of a trudge.
I promise you that some of your favorite boulder heads establishing new areas, and the problems within, have done this and you just didn't know. When shit gets high off the deck and you're only 1 or 2 people, backpacking 3/6/8 pads becomes a bit cumbersome day after day and definitely is not functional despite feelings to contrary.
Some people always seem surprised when they find out what it takes to make the sausage.... go make your own and then tell us again how you feel about it, or just wait til the work is done, buy the guide and assume it doesn't happen cause you've never seen it.

I pick up more ancient beer cans, plastic bottles, wrappers, brass and shells in the bum fuck nowhere than trashed pads...which to date is zero, and I have come across quite a few caches. Don't leave your pads out if you're done with the area for an extended period / season.

OP: Ive heard of folks wrapping their pads in tyvek house wrap as it's real durable, cheap, lightweight and weather/water proof. No personal experience though.

Some may even consider it pusillanimous.

Your alpine bouldering shots never fail to make me smile. Way to get after it, sir.

This makes me happy, thank you. There is something about the sweet simplicity of running around the mountains and climbing nice rocks that keeps me psyched. Cheers!

For my reply, I’ll quote old Bill and write; “I can no other answer make, but thanks, and thanks, and ever thanks”.

Yeah those look dope and IDGAF if you stash pads

It’s a nice group of boulders and only a 30 minute walk so not necessary for me to stash. I’m definitely okay with proper stashing too.

I was expecting an "Okay Boomer"!
