Is the Supertopo archive down for good?

Doing some research today on a book, and found that the ST archive is no longer up. Does anyone know if it’s permanently down? If so, what a shame - there was lots of golden anecdotes from climbers that brushed shoulders with the giants we’re familiar with.

I can't see it. It would be a real shame if it was unretrievable. The Frank Sacherer thread, for example, was a treasure trove of stories. I should have saved it somehow.

I very much hope this isn't the case. Every once in a while I'll go 'back there' to research something or just for entertainment. I did print up copies of a handful of threads that particularly interested me when I first heard that Supertopo was being 'closed', but obviously there was far more of interest on that website--even in the 'redacted' version in the archive.

If it comes back up, please let me know, I'd be happy to host an archive file for others to download

Wow! It was such an amazing resource of incredible info.

The entire Super Topo site seems to be down, not just the old forum archive. It’s seem unlikely to me that Chris would kill the entire site and the books and info etc etc.

Just tried.  It is definitely down.  Whether that is permanent or not we do not yet know.

It went down a few months (maybe year) ago for a couple days then reappeared whether that happens this time or gone for good who knows.  There's a topic somewhere on here about it.

I was looking on the wayback machine today and didn't find ANY of the supertopo site archived there either... bummer

I just tried it, looking for some background on a project. Doesn't seem to be available. A tragedy for climbing history if it is gone for good.

I did capture all of the Sacherer thread and am busy on writing it up... with a lot more information.

The ST Absence cascaded to the AWS outage, clearly. It was the fouled ST DNS that did it.

Pipes clear now!

Supertopo long ago blocked access for the Wayback Machine to archive it’s content. Supertopo has never been archived there.

But, why? The wayback machine is a phenomenal resource.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
