The reviewer has, obviously, never met climbers in real life - they can sit and talk about holds and moves for hours. And, of course, there are multiple threads devoted to 'cams, nuts, walkoffs, sun hoodies, climbing shoes' here on MP. Frankly, sometimes it is really hard to believe that real people don't give s--t about any of this.

Then again, I wish more time were devoted to problem-solving, not just the search for new foot- and hand-holds, but also setting up mid-air tents and both placing and handing over guide ropes. These are the most suggestive and maybe exploitable part of “The Sound”, and they’re never foregrounded enough to justify so much talk about cams and nuts, walkoffs and wraps around the face, and so on. I don’t mind that these characters mostly communicate in their own specialized language, but that can get annoying when the rest of the talking—and emoting—only makes it harder to believe that they’re real people.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to report that I paid for it and actually watched it. I have liked some horror movies, but this one wasn't even scary. A low budget attempt at a movie. I don't think Honnold et al got a big payday from this one, I hope they got $5000 to split between them, plus a fun climb up Rainbow Wall. It smacks of something a sponsor would "suggest', and you would be willing to do it, as long as you didn't have to do anything too dumb and make an ass of yourself...All in good fun, I suppose.....

Yo that’s the dude from Heat. Classic movie. I don’t think this movie is gonna be as good as Heat.

Dunno what else to make of this.

good movie, even better fire fight.  Fichtner was also in Black Hawk Down and A Perfect Storm, very underrated actor.

but I'm not holding my breathe on this one... looks similar to "the objective"  Blair witch meets Afghanistan   imdb.com/title/tt0962711/

Holy crap.  Beyond words.  That set a new “lowest bar” for a “climbing” movie.   Pull the sponsorship and belay tag of any climber that willing participated.

We burst out laughing with many incredulous “No F’in way!”s during the finale at the top.   You’ll know exactly what I’m talking about when/if you see it.   It’s a true WTF of movie making.

Alex actually really loves corny and shitty movies.  It is about the only form of junk I've ever seen him consume.  We talked about this film briefly before filming and I think he was pretty excited about it.   I had a handful of friends work on it and it sounded fun.

Well, at least it was realistic to my style of climbing— climb a few pitches off the ground, it’s getting dark and I’m smoked —set up portaledge.   Fuck around for a day dropping ropes and gear while playing with walkie-talkies and/or the voices in my head and spend another night.   Finish last pitch to the top.

Just never thought to make a movie of it.

Oh it must be a musical! I wanna see Honnold sing the Sound of Music, arms out, twirling around on a summit - the whole song.

Hahaha,On Thanksgiving Ledge.
