Ricky, how are the legs/hips?

Mine have been pretty tight and I'm looking for some high-stepping inspiration.

I've been meaning to make an update but I've been tired and discombobulated.

I did one of the yoga videos above a few times just for the first 20 minutes or so (the bit that goes over the lower body stretching/mobility) and it helped a lot. Maybe got me 50% to where I want to be or so? Really astonishingly quick progress for how little I did.

I'm embracing that I'm a man who does yoga now, but all the woo woo comments in the videos drive me nuts. I think I'm going to have to write down the steps and follow that, because I get irrationally frustrated and angry every time she says anything about my "heart space" whatever that is.

Maybe I need to grow up, maybe I need to find a different video, I dunno, but legitimately a huge thanks to everyone who left comments and suggestions and linked me to various resources. I have never seen such immediate improvement from suggestions on the proj as I did from y'all's suggestions in this thread.

I think the yoga helped so much because it's not just stretching but you're using your muscles to push your range of motion? Dunno, I ain't a PT or nothin, but I do know y'all are rad and I appreciate y'all.

That was a good laugh Ricky!  Thanks for the entertaining update.  Hope you find a better video.  I agree that stretching while working the muscles can be beneficial/better - I experienced that in Pilates reformer classes.

Awesome man, glad to hear the humorous update.  I too roll my eyes at some of the yoga language but it does seem to work.

God damnit. Yoga? I hate yoga.

In part it feels rather uncomfortable for me for some reason (maybe would go away if I did it more than once every two years)? and in part I have this weird masculinity thing where it's like I got a mini Hank Hill in me, y'know? If there isn't an episode where somehow Hank ends up doing yoga with Peggy then there needs to be. But I guess whatever that episode would be will be a little like my experience getting into yoga. But at the end of every episode Hank learns to accept the thing he didn't understand, so that's encouraging for the little Hank Hill inside me I guess.

I'll give it a go. Any video recommendations that are very stretchy and not very workout-y? Is that like a type of yoga I could search for? I know nothing of the ways of the yoga. I have very much not enjoyed the very physical and workout like yoga. If anyone knows what the stretchiest of yogas are I would appreciate a little education.

Namaste I guess

YouTube Yoga with Adriene or Hooper's Beta yoga. These are mostly stretchy. Hoopers is obviously focused on climbers, but is a little more of exercise. Adriene is very beginner friendly and stretch focused.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
