I don’t say this as any defense for Lonnie. But what is the correct way to respond to allegations on the internet? Subsequently what is the correct way to respond to convictions (like with Lonnie)? I could write a whole post about how Lonnie is scum but what is that worth. Lonnie himself wrote a whole post about how Charlie Barrett was scum. But at the same time I don’t want people to think I support people like Lonnie.

I want the judicial system to punish those guilty of crimes and I want those that are innocent to be found not guilty. I want people to have a chance for redemption but also accountability.

In my local climbing area not one but two developers are on trial for murder. No one knows. But also no one has any idea who bolted the climbs they do.

In this specific instance the "allegations" never even made it to the internet, so kind of a moot point. If you, like LK or CB,  ever find yourself convicted of felony DV or sexual assault or anything else like that, and you're still awaiting sentencing, the ONLY smart thing to do is STFU and, hopefully, show a lot of genuine remorse at your sentencing hearing. Definitely don't do what CB did and continue blaming the victims and witnesses and everyone but himself for the crimes he was convicted of doing. That's how you end up in lockup for life.
