Hello! Just checking in, has anyone spent time at Tahquitz or Suicide rocks recently? How are conditions? I’m thinking of heading out there next week if it isn’t too snowy.

Julian

Tahquitz has your typical early seasons conditions. Some snow on the approach to Lunch Rock ( as of 4 days ago) North Gully snowed in.. The rock has some snow on ledges. Temps in the mid 60s in town. The sunny SW side is warm and quite pleasant. Suicide has no snow on the rock. The last several days were pretty warm, so any remaining snow (mostly on the North side) is slowly disappearing. Expect chilly days anywhere but the SW side of Tahquitz and on Suicide. Cheers, Alois.

Alois is on point. I was up there on Saturday. Even west face stuff was a bit wet, but nothing unmanageable.. slab above lunch ledge had some snow melt running down to the single bolt but whatever. Friction descent was wet in the cracks but fine otherwise.

It was a very warm and dry winter for the most part (even though we got some snow late in the season). As such, "early season" will start/end earlier.
