It is actively raining across the valley and has been since early this morning.

0.75” at RR so far (day isn’t done yet!) from the flood gages:

An impressive storm.  The flood district gages are now showing just under 2" of rain over in RR.  About 0.5" at the airport.  Still going...

Red rock definitely won’t be Climable this weekend especially with current cloud cover, go jump on limestone

Gun club, blue Diamond cave, mt potosi, vrg, lone mountain crags tons of options

Your energy is better spent elsewhere. Everybody knows it's wrong to climb when it has rained this much, but they do it anyway. And they will continue to do it.

Why didn't you take close up pics of them?

I was enjoying my hike and stumbled upon this, so I snapped a quick photo and moved on. I'm not wasting my time sniffing out "violators." I spent years upset about this. This was meant to illustrate that all of that anger and effort is for naught. Makes absolutely zero difference other than hurting oneself. Let it go.

Yeah there's no point at all trying to get in to it with people out climbing sandstone on days like today.  They know they shouldn't be climbing and just don't care.  However, I don't agree that just because a handful of people are being disrespectful that it means there's no point in putting out info like this for all of the other climbers in town.  With people who come here exclusively to boulder, there's always gonna be some who are out when they shouldn't be because they have no other alternatives like roped climbers do with the limestone in town.  The fact that these were, I assume, the only people you saw climbing at Kraft actually makes me feel rather good though.  There's been way worse days of people climbing after lots of rain.  I saw a ton of people at BD cave and down at some of the Potosi crags, so most people are being respectful.

The only saving grace is that most of these people aren’t trying anything hard and the cool stuff in the canyon mostly will go unharmed. Kraft will become the sacrificial lamb for the rest of red rock

There were at least 50 people climbing all over kraft and in gateway canyon and a few at sunny and steep and a few at cannabis. This just had the highest concentration of folks.

Seems I assumed wrong.  Still, that makes sense that it was mainly boulderers and a few sport climbing stragglers at the spots you would expect.

I know who that is *facepalm*...he's definitely been around long enough to know better. However, I'm not surprised he was out there when he shouldn't have been.

Looks like a bunch of comp kids from out of state?

Might be fun to at least do a little public shaming. The coaches should be teaching the next generation how to respect and protect our natural resources.

Your V-points don’t count if the sandstone is wet.

So for full sun walls, how much longer are we thinking?

Sunny walls in the hills should be good now.  Friend of mine said the great red book area in the 2nd pullout was dry this afternoon.  However, the walls below that which are more sheltered and don't get as much sun (sweet pain, black corridor) were still damp.  No idea what conditions in the canyons are like but I would imagine sunny walls are also fine there as well.

We hiked up to straight shooter and mushroom people today (full sun all day and black varnish) The sand at the base of the routes was still slightly damp. I’d imagine it be good to go tomorrow.

If anyone is curious about willow springs - especially ragged edges - as of yesterday a the cracks still had very active water still flowing out of them.

Hey! SLC climber and sandstone noob looking for conditions prediction -- weather is saying about .25 inches of rain before Friday with most of that coming on Wednesday. Is that an amount of rain that would make the weekend a no go for most stuff given Wednesday being the heart of the downpour? Thursday is cloudy but clouds look like they will start parting for it to dry Friday afternoon and all Saturday/Sunday. Hoping to not cancel my weekend trip down to RR and wanted to some input. Thanks!

Limestone is probably your best option.  Given you're coming from SLC, I'd say just stop short and climb the stuff near Mesquite for Saturday.

Sounds good, thanks for rec and input!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
